Oleksandr Usyk’s recent victory over Tyson Fury unified the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles.
However, he may soon be stripped of the IBF belt due to mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic awaiting his title shot.
Hrgovic’s upcoming fight against Daniel Dubois could potentially determine the new IBF champion on June 1.
Despite Usyk’s historic achievement of unifying all four belts, boxing’s governing bodies may lead to the titles fragmenting once again, according to Frank Warren, who promotes Fury and Dubois.
In Frank’s words;
“He’s [Usyk] done something no one else has done. He’s unified the four belts.”
“Four belts on the line is the start. I’m quite sure they’ll fragment after that. And then it’ll happen again.”
