Prof. Wole Soyinka called for a State of Emergency to be declared in the South-West region of Nigeria while speaking to newsmen at the Fagunwa Study Group Second International Conference in Ondo State on Thursday August 8.

The Nobel Laureate alleged that there are many directions of security lapses in the region and also added that measures need to be taken accordingly.

“As regard the insecurity in the south-west, there is an emergency. There should be a declaration of security emergency throughout the land and measures taken accordingly,” he said.

“There are many directions of security lapses, you know it here, especially in Ondo state, it is a calamity throughout the whole nation. There is an emergency” Soyinka added.
